The Patrol Section is vital to the New Glasgow Regional Police, and provides around-the-clock patrols in the community. Officers assigned to this section work on one of four platoons. Each platoon consists of 4 to 6 officers. Each platoon works 12 hour shifts for 4 days, 2 days day-shift, 2 days night-shift, and then four days off duty.
Duties include:
- Community patrol
- 911 Response
- Criminal investigations
- Funeral escorts
- Enforcement of Provincial Statutes
- Traffic Law enforcement
- Crowd control at various festivals and activities
- Domestic violence response
- Proactive community involvement
- Response to non-emergency calls
