On Friday January 26, 2018, New Glasgow Regional Police is advising businesses and the public in the New Glasgow and Pictou County area to be aware of counterfeit money in the form of $100.00 bills.
New Glasgow Regional Police have received a report from local business that they received a counterfeit $100.00 Canadian bill. This $100.00 Canadian Bill looks very realistic but has a distinct Chinese writing located on the bill.
Businesses and residents are advised to check bills during all transactions and immediately report any suspicious bills to their local Police. The Bank of Canada website has more information on how businesses and consumers can identify and protect themselves against counterfeit Canadian and American currencies.

On January 20, 2018 at approximately 8:45 pm New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of an abduction that took place, in the Aberdeen Business Centre parking lot near the Giant Tiger store where an unknown male assaulted the victim and forced her and himself into a Dodge Durango and travelled to Blue Mountain. New Glasgow Regional Police and Pictou County District RCMP immediately responded and a complete investigation was initiated.
As a result of the investigation, police have determined that no abduction did take place. Police would also want to reinforce to the public that there is no need to be fearful of any abductor in the case.
The female has been charged with public mischief and will appear in court at a later date.
Pictou County District RCMP continue to investigate the alleged assault that took place in Blue Mountain.
New Glasgow Regional Police have arrested a 26 year old from Trenton and have charged her with Arson in relation to the residence and travel trailer on Philip Street Trenton, N.S.
On Tuesday January 23, 2018 at approximately 11:30 am Trenton Fire Department assisted by New Glasgow and Abercrombie Fire Departments and New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a fire at a residence and travel trailer on Philip Street Trenton, N.S.
When police and fire arrived the scene, the fire proved to be suspicious and the investigation continues. The residence and travel trailer were completed destroyed.
Immediately after the report of a fire at a residence and travel trailer on Philip Street Trenton, Trenton Fire Department also responded to a small fire inside a residence on Sixth Street Trenton, N.S.
No one was injured in either the residence on Philip Street or Sixth Street Trenton.
New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit continue to investigate.
