"The Mission Statement of the New Glasgow Fire Department is to provide protection to the citizens & businesses of the Town of New Glasgow. To protect the citizens & businesses from the ravages of fire or any other emergencies to which we may be called to, keeping in mind at all times the safety and best interests of the community, and to educate them to the dangers of fire.
The fully trained department consists of eight full time operators, five spares and 40 callout members. The callout members are Level 1 trained and officers are Level 2 trained....” (History and Today)

Here are a few qualifications:
1. Must be 19 years of age or older
2. Must be a resident of the town of New Glasgow
3. Must have a valid driver's license
4. Be able to obtain fire fighter level 1 within 2 years
