United Way Pictou County
Since 1960, United Way of Pictou County has been a trusted community partner. Their role in the community continues to expand as we act as a catalyst for change, a facilitator for solutions, and a fundraiser for local programs.
Pictou County Food Bank East
The Pictou County Food Bank East is located at 410 Granville Street in New Glasgow, NS serving hundreds of families from Mount Thom to Barney’s River as well as the towns of Trenton, New Glasgow, Stellarton and Westville each month.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County matches young people facing adversity with trained adult mentors in 1-1 or group mentoring programs, allowing them to develop into healthy young people better able to deal with and overcome life’s adversities.
The John Howard Association of Nova Scotia
The John Howard Association of Nova Scotia works with people who have come into conflict with the law. They also review, evaluate, and advocate for change in the criminal justice process. Furthermore, they engage in public education on matters relating to criminal law and its application and promote crime prevention through community activities.
Tearmann Society for Abused Women
Tearmann Society for Abused Women is recognized as a leader and change agent, advocating for strengthened community support systems, for creating sustainable partnerships to eliminate violence against women and children, and providing services that transition women towards safety, independence and greater self-worth.
Pictou County Safe Harbour
Pictou County Safe Harbour is a volunteer-driven, non-profit refugee sponsorship society that supports newcomers by providing them with a warm welcome and connecting them to the resources they need to achieve social and economic empowerment.
Pictou County Roots For Youth
Pictou County Roots for Youth is a not-for-profit organization that helps youth aged 16-24 to end their homelessness. They have a 4-bed youth homeless shelter located in New Glasgow.
New Glasgow Farmers Market
The New Glasgow Farmers Market is located along the beautiful riverfront in the heart of downtown New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. They are a non-profit cooperative serving Pictou County, Nova Scotia. We provide home-grown local produce and meats, baked goods, food to eat on-site & take away, and a wide variety of high-quality local art & crafts.
