Housing Accelerator Fund
Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF)
The Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) is a federal program administered by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) that helps municipalities increase housing supply by removing barriers to development and improving planning processes.
Through this initiative, the Town of New Glasgow is receiving approximately $3.3 million in federal funding to support actions that will help accelerate housing development and address the growing demand for homes in the community. Planned initiatives include improvements to development approval processes, such as introducing an online e-permitting system, exploring opportunities to repurpose vacant buildings for housing, and reviewing infrastructure needs that support future residential growth.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to encourage the development of new housing options and help meet current and future housing needs in New Glasgow.
