Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library Celebrates Love My Library Week, October 19–25

PICTOU AND ANTIGONISH COUNTIES, NS — The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library (PARL) is inviting library lovers to celebrate Love My Library Week, October 19–25, by making a tax-deductible donation to The Library Fund. Donations will help keep local libraries open, accessible, and thriving for everyone in our communities.

Throughout the week, representatives from the regional library will visit all seven branches to highlight the value of library services and programs, share current funding challenges, and encourage community members to support their local libraries.

“Our libraries are more than places to borrow books. They are places to learn, connect, discover, and belong,” says Nicole LeBlanc, chair of PARL’s Fundraising Committee. “Every day, our seven branches provide valuable services and opportunities that strengthen our communities and make life more affordable.”

However, library services are increasingly affected by a lack of sustainable operating funding from the provincial government. Through Love My Library Week, PARL is reaching out to library users, community groups, and others who value the vital role libraries play in our region. The fundraising goal is $300,000 and the total now stands at $75,000.

Donations to The Library Fund will help PARL continue providing the programs, resources, and services that individuals and families rely on today and into the future. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps build a stronger library system and stronger communities. Community members can donate in person at any of PARL’s seven branch libraries or online at www.parl.ns.ca.

Win the Gift of Flight! As part of its fundraising efforts, PARL will also launch its latest raffle on October 19, offering the Gift of Flight: one round-trip flight for two guests to any regularly scheduled and marketed WestJet destination. Tickets are available at any of PARL’s seven library branches for $5 per ticket or 3 tickets for $10. Please note that, due to government raffle regulations, cash payments only will be accepted.
