News Release
On Thursday January 2, 2025 at 7:23 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Duke Street Trenton with a pickup truck. The driver of the truck immediately fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Within an hour officers located the truck on Grandview Avenue Trenton, while the male suspect fled the area on foot.
Upon further investigation New Glasgow Regional Police located the male at a residence in the 100 block on Duke Street Trenton.
New Glasgow Regional Police, RCMP, Stellarton Police Service, Emergency Health Services, Trenton Fire Department and Nova Scotia Power, responded to the home in the 100 block of Duke Street residence after the possibility of the man being armed and barricaded inside the residence.
Police closed off the surrounding area on Duke Street. The lone male was the only one in the residence at the time of the incident as police were asking residents to Shelter in Place to stay in their homes as a precaution.
The man who barricaded himself inside the residence was found deceased.
The area was deemed safe at 4:20am January 3, 2025.
Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this time.
