Effective snow removal requires car-free streets. So, though the Town recognizes that it can be inconvenient to find off-street parking, it is sometimes necessary for the safe and complete plowing of Town streets. Accordingly, cars must not be parked on the street when they will interfere with snow clearing operations.

The operators follow an established, prioritized route for snow removal. The Town’s fleet is equipped with a GPS system that allows for real-time monitoring.

The Engineering & Public Works Department is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of approximately 80 kilometres of roadways and sidewalks, monitors and maintains the main stormwater inlets and works to keep the catch basin grates clear to prevent flooding. They also do all the concrete work for replacement sidewalks and new construction as well as all the crosswalk, lane designation and centre line painting.
The Engineering & Public Works Transportation Department operates a fleet of graders, loaders, tandem and single axle trucks, one-ton trucks, half-ton trucks, street sweepers, vacuum trucks for catch basins, and numerous other pieces of construction equipment.
