D.A.R.E, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a highly acclaimed program that gives students the skills they need to avoid involvement with drugs and violence. Millions of students around the world benefit from this educational program and the students of New Glasgow and Trenton are no different.

The New Glasgow Regional Police also has D.A.R.E mentors that provide leadership and instructions to D.A.R.E officers.

The New Glasgow Police D.A.R.E program is currently being offered to the following schools: New Glasgow Academy, Trenton Middle School, A.G. Baillie Elementary, Temperance Street & Acadia Street Elementary. This program is currently serving over 500 students within the towns of New Glasgow and Trenton.

The New Glasgow Regional Police was the first municipal police service in Nova Scotia to present this program and is currently being led by Cst. Ken MacDonald.
