Motor Vehicle Collision leads to impaired driving charge

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a Pictou County man with impaired driving, following a report of a motor vehicle collision on East River Road.

On Tuesday August 15, at 1:302 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police on routine patrol responded to a motor vehicle collision where a Nissan Titan truck struck a set of traffic lights at a pedestrian crossing median on East River Road. Minutes prior to the collision, the same vehicle had struck a power pole at the intersection of Temperance Street and East River Road.

New Glasgow Fire Department attended with Nova Scotia Power.

The driver was sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Aberdeen Hospital by Emergency Health Services.

New Glasgow Regional Police arrested and charged

Christopher Neil 27 years of age from Pictou County years of age with,

  • Driving While Impaired. 320.14(1)(a)

He was released on an Undertaking and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou on October 27, 202 New Glasgow Regional Police continue to investigate.
