On Monday, August 12, 2024, at approximately 11:10 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a male in distress with a possible firearm on Mitchell Street New Glasgow.
Officers immediately responded and arrested a 32-year-old male.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that prior to officers arrival a shot was fired inside the residence and hit a neighbouring residence. No one was hurt in the shooting.
The 32-year-old male from Pictou County was charged with;
- Mischief
- Weapons Dangerous
- Breech of Probation
- Discharge of a Firearm
- Use of a Firearm in a Careless Manner
- Possession of a Weapon Dangerous
The 32-year-old will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou today Tuesday August 13, 2024.

New Glasgow Regional Police charge driver and passenger with multiple offenses after traffic stop.

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a driver and passenger, both from Pictou County with multiple offences following a traffic stop in the Trenton Park parking lot.
On June 22, 2024, at approximately 10:42 pm, New Glasgow Regional Police while on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Kia Sportage vehicle in the parking lot of the Trenton Park, Trenton, NS.
Upon investigation of the vehicle, driver and passenger, New Glasgow Regional Police officers arrested a 20-year-old-male and a 17-year-old.
During a search of the vehicle, New Glasgow Regional Police officers located and seized a Rifle, Stun Baton, Prohibited Knife, Drugs, Alcohol and Drug Paraphernalia.
As a result, the drive, 17-years-of age has been charged with:
- Failure to comply with or Refusal of Demand.
- Underage Drinking.
- Two Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
- Possession of Firearm in a Vehicle.
- Two Counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm or Prohibited Weapon,
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession Unauthorized.
The 20-year-old-male passenger has been charged with:
- Illegal Possession of Alcohol.
- Three Counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm or Prohibited Weapon,
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession Unauthorized.
- Two Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
The 17-year-old driver has been released under strict conditions and will appear in Provincial Court in Pictou at a later date. The 20-year-old -male passenger has been released upon strict conditions and will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou on August 26, 2024.

New Glasgow Regional Police is looking for assistance in locating a stolen vehicle that was involved in a home invasion that occurred at a home on Albert Street, New Glasgow.
On March 14, 2024, at approximately 4:56 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report of a home invasion on Albert Street, New Glasgow. Police are on scene and two persons have been transported to hospital with injuries.
Preliminary investigation has determined that police are requesting the public’s assistance to locate stolen vehicle involved in the home invasion.
Police continue to gather information and evidence at the scene as the investigation is ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
Vehicle is a Red 2019 Toyota Rav-4 Nova Scotia Licence Plate GLJ 474 last seen on Albert Street New Glasgow.

March 10, 2024, New Glasgow Regional Police charge three persons with attempted murder

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged three persons with attempted murder and several firearms offences in relation to the attempted murder investigation on Washington Street New Glasgow, that occurred on February 16, 2024.
The 30-year-old victim received life threatening injuries.
The three persons were arrested on outstanding warrants on Saturday March 9 in the community of River John by Pictou County District RCMP during an unrelated investigation.
The three persons all from Pictou County,
Adult male 48 years of age
Adult male 28 years of age
Adult female 27 years of age
All were charged with attempted murder and several firearms offences and have been remanded into custody to appear in Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday March 11.
New Glasgow Regional Police continue to ask the public for information and the whereabouts for Angela Lynn Taylor for the attempted murder and several other firearms charges.
There continues to be a warrant for arrest on these charges.
