Town of New Glasgow Announces December “Parking by Donation” to Support Local Charities

November 24, 2025, New Glasgow, NS – The Town of New Glasgow is pleased to offer 3-hour metered parking in the downtown core for the month of December on a “parking by donation” basis. This initiative is to encourage customers to support our local businesses during the holiday shopping season. The donations for parking will be collected from downtown parking meters during this period will be split and equally donated directly to the Pictou County Food Bank East and the Pictou County Fuel Fund, supporting local families during one of the most challenging times of the year.

“We are happy to once again be supporting the Pictou County Fuel Food and Food Bank East this holiday season,” says New Glasgow Mayor Dicks. “The parking meter collection has become a holiday tradition in the Town of New Glasgow and it is a great way to support the community this time of year with your spare change.”

The Town extends its appreciation to residents and visitors for their generosity and continued support of both the community and the local business district.

Glasgow Square and the Farmers Market parking lots are free for customer and employee parking in Downtown New Glasgow throughout the entire year.
