Recruitment Opportunity: New Glasgow Regional Police & Atlantic Police Academy Partnership

The New Glasgow Regional Police (NGRP) is proud to partner with Holland College, Atlantic Police Academy to support police recruitment and identify future officers. This initiative offers aspiring police officers the opportunity to receive high-quality training while building strong ties to the community. Pending acceptance into the program, the successful applicant will begin training in January 2026, followed by paid on-the-job training with the New Glasgow Regional Police starting in May 2026.

Telecommunication Structure Proposal

TEP Engineering will be hosting a public information session from 6:30-8pm, Tuesday Aug 12, 2025 in the Glasgow Square auditorium, 155 Riverside Pkwy, New Glasgow, NS, to allow the public an opportunity for comments and questions regarding Eastlink’s proposal of a Telecommunication Tower.

Eastlink is proposing to build a forty-five metre (45m) self-support telecommunications tower on a portion of PID 65150013, located off Park Street, New Glasgow. The proposed tower will be located approximately two-hundred-ten metres (210m) from Park Street on an existing commercial property at approximate coordinates: 45 34 19.89N 62 38 19.22W. The purpose of the tower is to improve cellular service to the residents, businesses and emergency services in the area.

Road Closure Notice Main St. Trenton NS

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise motorists that Main St., Trenton from Glass St. to Oak St. will have lane closures with traffic control in place and a full road closure on Glass St. starting on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00am to 12:00pm.
Construction is weather dependent and updates to the construction completion will be posted on the Town’s website.
These closures are needed to complete road repair.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes whenever possible, detours will be in place.

TOWN OF NEW GLASGOW CALL FOR CITIZEN APPLICATIONS

The Town of New Glasgow is inviting citizens to apply to serve on the following committees that assist Council with achieving its goals and objectives for the community:

ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE 

The main focus of this Committee is to provide advice to Council on identifying, preventing, and eliminating barriers to people with disabilities in municipal programs, services, initiatives, and facilities. The committee plays a pivotal role in helping the Town of New Glasgow to become an accessible community and meet its obligations under Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Act.

Three-year Term Available         

1 Representative from the Disabled Community in New Glasgow at large. 

BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE 

The main focus of this Committee is to provide input on matters related to business promotion and business development within New Glasgow.

Three-year Term Available         

1 Business Representative from the Westside Plaza.

1 Business Representative from the Stellarton/Westville Road Business Corridor.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The main focus areas of this Committee include: Recreation & Active Living Services, Heritage, Community Events, Beautification Projects, Glasgow Square, Tourism, and Arts & Culture.

Three-year Term Available           

1 Citizen Representative from Ward 1 (Southend).

1 Citizen Representative from Ward 2 (Northend).

1 Citizen Representative from Ward 3 (Westside).
