As we head into the hurricane season, it is important to be prepared for emergencies. The Town of New Glasgow reminds you to review the following safety tips and guidelines about preparing an emergency kit to be able to look after yourself and your family for at least the first 72 hours of the situation.

Traffic Advisory - George Street

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise that the Engineering Department will be working on the George Street Bridge in preparation for upcoming milling and paving operations. The work will require one lane of traffic to be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. August 14, 2024, with further lane closures possible in future. Please stay tuned for more information about traffic advisories.

Please note the revisions to the preliminary list of electors Municipal, Towns and Conseil Scolaire Acadien Elections with respect to the upcoming elections.

2024 Municipal Elections

Municipal Elections 2024 are almost here!
Returning Officer Josephine MacDonald will be in the Town Hall, on September 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept nominations for the Town of New Glasgow. This is by appointment only, please call 902 485-2253 – Returning Assistant Donna to book an appointment.
Documents required – completed application, form 3 (confirming that taxes are paid), $200.00 application fee, to be paid with cash or money order, no debit or credit card accepted.
The last day to accept nominations is September 10, 2024.
The application package is available at the front desk at the Town Hall.

Postponed - Emancipation Day Flag Raising Ceremony

The Town of New Glasgow wishes to advise that the Emancipation Day Flag Raising Ceremony and proclamation reading is postponed. The celebration will instead be held on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at 12.30 p.m. at the Glasgow Square Theatre. The Pan-African flag will be raised on August 1st in honour of the Emancipation Day. This change is being made in collaboration with partner agencies.
